Things To Do In & Around the Brentwood Area
The Dyer Observatory is owned and operated by Vanderbilt University. It is named after Arthur J. Dyer, who paid for the observatory's 24-foot wide dome, and houses a 24-inch reflecting telescope named for astronomer Carl Seyfert.
Deerwood Arboretum and Nature Center is free and features great scenery, hiking, and picnic areas. Located at the end of Deerwood Lane, off Johnson's Chapel Road, the park offers 27 acres to enjoy.
Radnor Lake is a 1200 acre Class II Protected Area. Four unpaved trails wander through the woods surrounding the lake, where hikers can enjoy the wilderness, including river otters, beavers, mink, muskrat, bobcat, coyote and the white-tailed deer.
