BOYNTON BEACH is named for Major Nathan S. Boynton, a Civil War veteran and Michigan entrepreneur who first visited the area in 1894 and later built the Boynton Hotel to attract northern tourists. Officially incorporated in 1920, the city is located in Palm Beach County along Florida’s Atlantic coast and had a population of approximately 81,673 as of the 2025 estimate.

Situated about 57 miles north of Miami, Boynton Beach is home to a diverse economy with companies ranging from healthcare and insurance to tech startups and manufacturing. Notable employers include Bethesda Health and the City of Boynton Beach, while the area also supports a growing number of innovative small businesses and service providers.

The city is served by several higher education institutions, including Florida Career College and the International College of Health Sciences, and is within close proximity to Florida Atlantic University and Palm Beach State College.
